Large ACS vibration test chamber for Applus+ Test centre in UK
The new UK laboratory is dedicated to battery testing for ECE R100 homologation and UN DOT 38.3 compliance. There are few systems in Europe that can test battery packs as huge as this one.
Applus+ is a worldwide leader in the testing, inspection and certification sector. Their objective is to enhance the quality and safety of their clients’ assets, products, and infrastructures while safeguarding their operations and improving their environmental performance. They offer their services to all major industrial sectors.
In order to further accelerate the development of batteries and provide their customers with highly efficient and reliable systems for battery testing, Applus+ Laboratory in UK have equipped their laboratory with a large ACS Temperature andHumidity Test Chamber (mm 3800x4300x2100 H ext. dimensions).
The chamber can be interfaced with a large electrodynamic shaker thanks to a system of removable floors to carry out combined tests of thermal cycles and horizontal or vertical vibrations. With the installation of a blind floor it is possible to use the climatic chamber in stand-alone mode.
Also different types of sensors are available, such as O2, CO2, H2 allowing to comply with different Hazard Levels established by EUCAR, where each Hazard level is associated with a series of items to prevent it.
There are few similar systems in Europe that can test battery packs as large as this one.
The climatic chamber can accommodate batteries up to 2.8 x 2.8 m in size, in extreme climatic conditions, ranging from -50°C to +120°C. The shaker has a capacity of up to 200 kN for vibration tests (random and sinusoidal) and 400 kN for shock tests. This test system meets the most stringent safety requirements in the battery industry.
This unique shaker is also capable to test large components from other industries such us aerospace, defense or railway.
