Rolling Bench chamber by ACS at VEHICLE EMISSION TESTING LAB in Beijing
One of our biggest Dynamometer Drive-in Test Chamber installed in Beijing and accepted in 2024.
Over the past three decades, China's automotive market has grown exponentially due to socioeconomic development and rapid urbanization. China has been the world's largest automotive market since 2009, and in 2013, it surpassed the 20 million new car sales mark annually for the first time. China cemented its leadership position in 2021 when it surpassed the United States of America in terms of the total number of vehicles. Rapid motorization improves travel convenience and so supports industry and social development, but it also brings significant challenges related to public health, energy security, air quality, and climate change.
The last 20 years have seen a significant decrease in on-road emissions thanks to improvements in emission standards. Interestingly, Beijing has been raising the bar on emissions for new cars on a regular basis. Beijing was the first Chinese city to apply China 1 emission standards (which are comparable to Euro 1) for LDGVs in January 1999. Since then, Beijing has continuously applied stricter vehicle emission regulations than other Chinese cities. Beijing is now the country's leader in vehicle emission control as a result of this. The China 6NI emission standards, which are among the strictest laws in the world, were enacted in Beijing in 2020 and later spread throughout the entire country. Continuous improvement of emission standards protects the environment and fosters the growth of the automotive industry.
In Beijing, several public bodies and organisations conduct emission tests on vehicles. These bodies work together to ensure that vehicles meet emission standards and contribute to reducing air pollution. This Vehicle Emission Testing Lab is specifically dedicated to the management and control of vehicle emissions. This centre performs emission tests, issues certificates of conformity and implements regular inspection programmes.
The Testing Lab. decided to procure a large Dynamometer Drive-in Test Chamber from ACS with the aim to carry out test emission of complete commercial vehicles, passenger vehicles and trucks to obtain extremely precise measurements, thanks to the strictly controlled, repeatable and versatile test conditions.
- Vehicle homologation:the chamber is used to test new vehicle models before they are put on the market. These tests verify that vehicles meet the emission standards required by local and international regulations.
- Compliance Testing: vehicles in circulation can be recalled for periodic compliance testing to ensure that they continue to meet emission standards over time.
- Research and Development: car manufacturers and research institutes use the chamber to develop new emission reduction technologies and to improve the efficiency of emission control systems.
